Well are you going for more of a Cockney accent or a regular accent? Cockney seems easier cuz the more exaggerated it is, the more real it sounds. lol. For a regular British accent, emphasize our vowels. Pronounce every vowel and that will be a good start.

Check out your local library at my library near the section where it has CD's and tapes that teach you different languages sometimes have a series of CD's or something that teach you how to speak with various accents. I found a great series called "Acting with an Accent" and I used the standard British version. Hope this helps!

There is no easy way to "fake" any dialect, ESPECIALLY British. It is the single most recognizable accent to American ears.
That having been said:
Do not hold down on your "r"s.
Clear your dentinite "t"s and "d"s.
Drawl your vowels.
Listen to the rhythm and inflection. They are different than ours.
Don't even bother with the old "lift" and "lorry" word substitution. You will just sound ridiculous.

Study the dialect. If you have a good ear you will
soon pick it up. Watch movies like My Fair Lady
and other British movies.

No easy way, you have to learn the sound substitutions from American English and practice doing them until it becomes habit.

don't pronounce your Ts and do the "a" sound instead of the "-er" sound.
example: "whatever" becomes "wha-eva"
by the way i don't have a british acent...these are just some things i've noticed about people who do. don't think i'm a loser british people.
