Do you think boys get spanked more than girls? Do you think there's a difference in what age parents stop spanking boys verses girls?

In our family, the girls got it more.
It was
Boy Hardly if ever
Girl Most of the time (supposed to watch out for the others)
Girl Not too often
Girl Hardly ever (parents got too old to bother)
I stopped being spanked when I figured out my dad would keep hitting me with the belt if until I cried. So to be defiant, at the age of 12...I told myself I would not cry. He kept at it until he was out of breath and gave up. Never got it again. I felt so in control! I saved my younger sisters from it too.
My brother was always spared for some reason. Not sure why. I was the first born girl though so I was expected to keep the other two girls in line. Everything ended up on me when things went wrong.

Girls are spanked to a much later age age; often into late teens.
Boys are rarely spanked after age 11 or 12. It would be abusive to spank a teen boy hard enough to get his attention.

I'd say girls. I had one younger brother and if anything went wrong, it was on me. Girls are supposed more mature and better behaved. Boys are expected to cause trouble. I got spanked until 14/15 and my brother was more like 12. I could at least take a spanking better than my brother, lol.

We grew up in the 60 s so its a long time ago--but in our family it was just taken for granted boys got spanked/paddled and girls did not---I guess my brothers and I accepted the fact that guys needed to get paddled every so often and girls did not---Mom paddled us til 14 and then less frequently--dad paddled us thru high school either way we took it on the bare butt-- and did not question it was a guy needed and a girl did not---Looking back--I am glad my sisters did not get paddled

I think girls get spanked more. When it comes to boys there is this 'boys will be boys' mentality and they get off the hook. When it comes to girls and they do anything outside or 'pink frills and tea parties' they are misbehaving.

I think it depends more on the child. My son gets spanked more than both of his sisters combined.
