If you actually want to be an x-ray tech, the term is radiologic technologist. A radiologist is a doctor. To find schools, go to http://jrcert.org/cert/Search.jsp choose Radiography and New York, then search.

A radiologist is a medical doctor- a radiology technician program is probably what you are looking for.
