my grandfather did not leave a will, but was worth over 3 million dollars. is there any law in north carolina that entitles me and my sister to any of the inheritance?

With no will, the next of kin (your Dad) gets it all. Maybe he will share.

Unfortunately, until your father (the last immediate relation) passes away, you are not entitled to any of the money. Now if he decides to "split" the money with you and your sister, he is allowed to do so, but I would get it in writing. that way there is absolutely no confusion.
