OMG! People did you read the article? she got pregnant, because she couldn’t get birth control anymore, because it cost $20-a-month more at the university clinic, because its federal funding was cut, because President George Bush signed the Deficit Reduction Act............
I didn't say it was Bush's fault...the story implies it! "Hits low income students hard". Yeah--like another poster said--low income but can afford a trip to Costa Rica............right!

Want to add it is nice to see some of our more liberal friends acknowledge that it isn't always the President's fault.

I couldn't get the article to come up. But you really had me going there for a few seconds ! ( hehehe ) I was expecting something about The President doing a bill clinton.
You know that the left, ( AKA Communists ), will blame anything on President George W. Bush, even the Sexual Irresponsibility of a College Student who should take responsibility for her own anctions, and is old enough to know better.

Give me a break... maybe she should have thought about the consequences of her actions, ie having sex, before she got pregnant...
She's 20 years old, she's a big girl now, and she must be held accountable for her own actions... she made a choice to have sex, and therfore I cannot feel bad for her for getting herself pregnant...
Oh yeah, and by the way, if she didn't feel like taking birth control pills, why didn't she go get some condoms? Condoms are cheap, you can buy one in a mens bathroom for 75 cents... perhaps then she woudn't be pregnant...
Or she could have not had sex at all... that'd keep her from having a baby, and save her money at the same time... but this was her choice, and therfore she suffers the consequences (I regret using the word suffers, because parenting is supposto be a wonderful experience, not something to suffer... but what can you do)

How can the Republicans be blamed for an obviously democratic thinking person. Had she been a republican she would have charged for the sex and made the funds necessary for adequate birth control. Keep in mind Republicans never screw anybody unless money is involved.
If I read it right she had to cancel plans for a Costa Rican trip, now how can one afford that but not afford birth control ? Why did she engage in intercourse with a man unable to supply a condom ? How can she be qualified to attend college and think if BC is too costly then the result of not taking adequate preventative measures would be safe ? Birth and disease control is a shared responsibility between the participants engaging in sexual activity. Her date was just as low class as she is and the govt has nothing to do with this event. Bush, if he had his way, would probably ban blacks from reproducing at all. This is not his fault, Clinton showed by example the pregnancy safe sort of sex she should have engaged in.

As I type this there have been 25 answers . And only 1 of them understood that you were being facetious !! BTW , good job 'outraged' .
Also what Henry Vll failed to mention(and he does this often) is that the article DID go on to mention that this stemmed from President Bush's approval of such legislation .
The rest of these folks need to take a 'chill pill' or perhaps look into what 'Earnest T' has a PhD in !!!!
BTW , a double dose of 'Earnest T' usually will cure these folks . And it's free !!!

Wow, you are really stretching here. Congress passed a law to reduce the deficit. Bush signed it. The price of one type of birth control at one college clinic went up $20. Wal-Mart will still give you generic prescriptions for $4. Condoms are still free. This girl was a stupid slut. She got gerself pregnant. She can't blame anyone else for her choices. And you are deluded for trying to make this claim.

That is rediculous, birth control is a lot less expensive than that, in fact I suspect she could do it for only a penny.
Put a penny between her knees and not drop it in the company of men, works every time.
And as kind caring person I will give her the penny, after all it is reusable.
and why am I always on the second page, I hate that.

I think the government helped her by raising the costs, she was off to a foreign country to "wine and dine" she said - Heck she could of been drugged while being drunk and killed on one of those islands as we have seen in the past. So she should be thankful.
I guess she didn't choose any of the other birth control options though like the number one keeping your panties on!!

Get a life! I don't like Bush at all, but you still can't blame this woman's pregnancy on him. I've looked all over the Constitution, and I can't find the spot that says that President is responsible for providing low-cost birth control to college students. I can't find the spot that says the government will be responsible any time the citizens are not.
This woman knew she was taking a risk. She didn't have to. As others have pointed out, condoms are fairly inexpensive and usually offered for free at many places. And abstinence is very cost-effective.
So Bush may have screwed up a lot of things, but this woman is not one of them.

The desire to have sex got this person pregnant. If you want to be sexually active you have to pay the price whether it be $35 for birth control or getting pregnant. Abstinence is always an option and is the only 100% way to not have a kid (it's also free). Take responsibility for your own actions.

Bush doesn't do everything, how about concentrating on the important things he does that are not nescesary like the screening of American's for mental illness which is based on quackery, it really is not nescessary and does not help and the cost of these psychiatric mind altering addictive pills to make ones self feel better could pay for her birth control many times over, it could probably pay for a whole bunch of birth control if one would put a stop to it since it is based on quackery and that is all it is, once she has the baby her and the baby will be found to be mentally ill in some way and the government will pay for the cost of the bull shite treatments for them both for the rest of their lives if they call it foster care or adoption or just plain old disability, what do you think is ruining America?
