how can i post a comment and join in on discussins of news stories on yahoo?

You can ask questions and comment or respond to other people's questions, but I don't think you can comment directly on news stories.

It's worth posting links to the article you're interested in.

You can't. Yahoo removed that feature some time ago because a handful of people held sway over those message boards and were posting vile and demeaning responses to those who took issue with their stands. This Yahoo Answers thing is apparently the replacement . But, I fear it too will be taken down from the Yahoo site because it is beginning to degenerate in quality of both questions and answers.
