Vaughn hit the nail on the head. The rich don't want to give up what they have so they vote republican. They are prideful in their attitude that all their tax money goes to welfare. They think that they are the only ones that work hard and once they make it up the ladder they want to pull it back from anyone else that is trying to climb up. Democrats support the middle class, Republicans only support the rich. If you are not rich and you vote Republican you are voting against you own self interest.

This question assumes money is the sole measure of success. According to you Paris Hilton is more successful than a Doctor who has saved hundreds of lives and invented cures for diseases and who is also a millionaire - but Paris Hilton has more, so she is more successful.

Do republicans who are born into rich families really believe they 'made it on their own', made it 'independently' with no help whatsoever from the government that builds roads and protects their freedoms or soldiers who fight and die to keep us safe?

Republicans claim they're so independent, but they rely more on others than democrats, more likely to call their lawyer whenever they can't handle something.

All though the question was inflammatory and crude, the information in the poll was a little startling. Is America that polarized that we cannot agree on anything? How will government function if there is no compromise? While we bicker are our enemies and economic competitors taking advantage of us? Is there any question that they would?

How can we find common ground?

That would obviously vary based on your definitions of productive and successful. Your definitions are quite obvious and very shallow- money only! Many, many other factors go into defining people as successful and productive, what a sad trollish existence you have, a waste of earths valuable resources.

because republicans do what they say. Democrats say anything to get elected and do nothing case in point are our troops out of iraq yet? in 200-300 years will they be sure republicans never gave a date to be out by but the democrats did.

reasoning between Bush and Kerry
Bush doesn't look like a horse might have been kicked in the head by one but doesn't look like one.
Kerry couldn't stay in one position about any single issue one week he said yes the next he said no then went back to yes again

I liked your other picture better. You look kind of spooky in this one! How does income translate into productivity?

LOL PNAC Penelope! You're hot! Can I launch an illegal invasion on you? Hubba hubba!

Is it possible you're getting your reasoning backward, and it's not that those who are Republican become rich, but those who are rich vote Republican?

I think what makes them wealthy is skill at stealing.

Hmm I would say the same thing that makes drug dealers so successful and productive...the willingness to exploit the misfortunes and problems of others.
