I don't live with my parents, because they were abusive, so I live with my relatives, but I really need my bedit card, but my parents won't give it to me. It's MY card with my money that I've earned thru my part time job. I need it by tommorrow morning, and I even decided to go on a hunger strike if they don't give me the card. Please, what can I do?

If you cant get debit card back by tomorrow. Can you go to the bank intuition and get money out that way.

Eventually you will need to report the card stolen or lost and have a new one mailed to the address were you are now staying. That way they can keep the card they have the bank will decline access on that one and you will have the revised new one.

Why do you need it so bad? Can't you go to a teller and withdraw the money?

If you really need it by tomorrow and don't have time to have the bank send you a new one, you can call the police. Technically, if someone has something that belongs to you and wont give it back, that's stealing. Of course, I'd call them and tell them that you are calling the police.

Do NOT call 911 though. Look up the regular phone number in a phone book and call that or go into the station yourself. Tell them you want to file a police report on a stolen debit card, and that you know who has it and whatnot. They'll probably just call your parents and tell them to give it back to you or else they'd be forced to file the report.

Of course, the whole situation seems pretty petty.

well, if your over 18 you can just tell the bank that you need a new card. Go into the bank and get out the money you need. If you are under 18 though then no matter where you are if your parents are on your account then they have every right to have it. The law I am afraid!

You didn't mention the reason why they are holding your card. Apparently, you must have shown some lack of responsibility, so you need to regain their trust. It may take much longer than tomorrow morning. However, you might try asking the relatives you live with to put in a good word for you. Maybe I'm being unfair in assuming it's your fault, since you say your parents were abusive. They are probably unreasonable as well. In any event, your relatives might try speaking with them in your behalf. Good luck!

A card is a convenience and not a need. Run yourself to the bank and make a withdrawal.
I am kind of wondering, though, that you are not telling the whole story or if it's a bit skewed.

if you don't live with them why would they have it?

And not eating for one night does not constitute a hunger strike.

Just call your bank and tell them you want to cancel your old card because you lost it and need another one.

It will take a few days though.

You're 16, so you're out of luck. You have no recourse.
