A lot of african countries are still poor becuase of mainly tribalism, political quarels and lack of education.

"Most" people haven't heard of a IQ test in africa thus they haven't took and IQ test. So only because a small dim witted sample of people in africa took a IQ test and done horrible bad does'nt mean they represent everyone there.

Truth be told Europe and America gained their riches through trading slaves from africa. The money they profited from that; they invested on things in industrial revolution in england and cotton or other products production in America.

What africa needs is a strong political leader who represents everone in africa. Africa needs to unite and get up on their own feet, without the help of foreign aid which ends them up in debt. There is too much corruption in some countries of africa, they need to sort this out if they want Africa to be a continent of high standings.

China 60 years ago was like england in the medieval times. Now just decades later, their going to be one of the most riches in the world, just because they sorted out their politics. African leaders need to work togheter and learn from their neigbours. If they don't their just going to be swallowed up by american companies swallowing up their resources.

Some f'ing racist answers here, too much ignorant people nowadays.

Of course at least one person who answered would say the white man. It is a shame they cannot get all the facts first. While there is some corruption, it is known that many of the tribal areas do not want to change themselves--that is their fault. It is the fear of the unknown. The same way many people do not like the concept of change within their life no matter where or how they live. There are actually many other reason as to why.

The answer to your question is complex. However to answer your question the simplest explanation is globalization.

Many African countries are becoming a part of the global economy through globalization; however, part of the problem is the manner in which those nations enter the market. The second part of the problem is corruption is rampant in that area of the world.

As you correctly stated, Nigeria has oil riches, but those in power are keeping that money for themselves and not sharing it with the masses. Until you can end the corruption Africa will continue to remain poor.

To answer that would take a book, but basically foreign aid is not free. it is given to the rulers of the countries so they won't develope and thus grow economically. What do these poor countries use for collateral for this aid? their resources. is this predatory lending? yes as they know they won't be able to pay back the loans because they need to develope but the loaners (world bank) won't allow it. this is how you get a countries resources at pennies a dollar. And if they try to develope anyway the bankers have the united states military to keep them in line. And they can keep you from selling your goods in the international market. Get it?

I read that there are 9.3 trillion dollars of dead capital in the world. Forgot the guys' name. that means people have propety but can't use it to get a loan, thus they can't develope or develope wealth. They have land but don't own it so don't have collateral. this is 43 times the amounts of loans ever given by the world bank and 93 times more than foreign aid ever given.

so there is potential, but alas, the wealthy don't want others to get wealth you can't control other wealthy people so you have to keep them poor.

They attach all kinds of strings to the loan and aid. by the way that benefit the rich corporations indirectly.

Africa contrary to popular belief had education language religion, culture and governments long before it was discovered by Europenans. The best and the brightest were taken from Africa for the slave trade, add to that the destructive nature of colonialism, corrupt governments put in place by greedy western governments famine, drought, disease and countless wars forty years of self rule is nothing compared to the hundreds of years it took for Europeans to form livable societies. European history isn't pretty either.

Because the mostly white global imperialist make sure that Africa will 1 never unite... The c.i.a makes sure that killing never stops amongst the African people, sort of like their doing in south America and Iraq the ultimate agenda is a global government, money system, and military. Africa as a united super power just wouldn't work well with what they've got in mind so they make sure the majority of the people are dumb, sick, and angry. Any other QUESTIONS?

Corrupt governments that steal the food, money and other donations that are given by other countries. The continent is a lost cause

corruption, not the white man, seems to be the more likely answer to this question. during years of agricultural surplus, countries will sell of their extra harvest instead of storing in case of an emergency in the future just to make an extra dollar. Corruption leads to starvation and starvation leads to people who can't work. end the corruption and you have a thriving Africa, unfortunately that will not happen anytime soon. those who are corrupt take till they get their fill then let another corrupt regime take over.

It's a hard question.

I will point out though that wealth is not the only measure of the worth of humanity.
