As someone who has served in the military and been deployed I understand the hardship of being away from loved ones and friends, and I truly appreciate the sacrafice our troops make to keep pur country safe.
However, I am against the war completely, because it was predicated on lies, and the fact that we invaded and deposed the government of a nation that had no connection to 9/11. Yes Saddam was an evil dictator, but so are the presidents of North Korea and Sudan as well as other nations.
The point is I support our troops because of thier sacrafices they make for our country, but it angers me when good people die for the benefit or corporations and the military industrial complex. My wish is that all our troops be home with thier families.
Sometimes war is necessary, but if your going to send our troops to fight and die, the governemnt should have the g*ddamn common curtosy to be honest with us, but that's just me.

I am a peace activist. I have been screamed at, given the finger to, and yelled at repeatedly by people who accuse me of not supporting our troops by supporting peace. I feel I support them best by wanting them to come home safe and fast to their families.
I feel Americans are suffering from what I call "Vietnam Backlash." America made troops feel guilty and ashamed when they came home from Nam and we have never forgiven ourselves for our horrendous behavior to those guys.
I have a son 11 years still active in the Air Force. My problem is not the soldier. It is the illegal war.

What many Americans don't realize is that everyday the war continues, the United States loses more and more of its grasp on the title of "superpower." If we stay there another two years, all pretense of empire will be lost.
Go ahead, keep the troops there ten years if it makes the folks at home happy. All the body bags in the world will not make Iraq a stable democracy nor will it delay the U.S.'s decline in stature globally.

Of course I support the troops, who wouldn't support them, they are over there fighting a war that is not even ours to fight. We can support them because that is the only thing we can do right now in hopes that they will be returned back to their homes. They are doing their duty, but even so they can't say they are fighting for America and George Bush can't say that the war is close to over. A war he started and killed many of our troops in the process for reasons that have nothing to do with the improvement in America and the wars that need to be fought right here in the USA. God Bless to the troops and a safe return home.

It is only the Republicans using this idiotic thinking as a way to keep the troops there. There is a tremendous difference in supporting troops and supporting the war. We are there because of misinformation about WMD's that were never found. It all boils down to "War is good business, invest a Son" (or Daughter).

Only the BUSHIES are saying that phrase. They KNOW the War is wrong but they're too FING ANAL about being wrong and to make them look more patriotic, they have come up with catch phrases like "If you don't support the War, you don't support the troops!" This WHOLE presidency is based on catch phrases!
It's a SHAME what this administration has done to THE USA!

I agree with you 100%. When we??? decided to go to Iraq and everyone, I mean EVERYONE around me was peeing their pants with excitement, I felt like I was in the Twilight Zone. I thought, gee-I must be really stupid not to figure this out like everyone else, because I could not for the life of me see the connection between Iraq and 9/11. I'd speak up Those troops are our fellow americans and I support them - again, it's easier for people to assume you're traitorous than to think about it a little.

GWB has narrowed the opinions and set the paradigm that anyone that disagrees with his policies is anti-American and supports terrorism. It's nothing new, it's a strategy right out of Hitler's playbook. If it upsets Bush to be compared to Hitler then he should stop acting like him.

They don't confuse it, they use it deliberately in an attempt to make the other side less appealing.
Saying "well if he is against the war in Iraq means he is against the troops" is just trying to make someone else look bad.

Not believing in what our troops BELIEVE in isn't exactly supporting them. We send our troops to fight and win not to fight and die. If Haliburton wasn't there in Iraq you guys would b**ch about another company. I am actually getting tired of people and their abstract views on this war and their "support" of the troops. Stop complaining here and go to your representatives and have them bring the troops home. Go home and close your shades, the world will be so much safer if you do.
