Gee, Bob, we're all of us ignorant about something. I love scanning posts at Space and Astronomy, where some really top brains explain the universe with such insight and clarity that even a dummy like me can understand it. But at the same time I am aware that these intelligent men and women probably could not direct a film or give life to a major Shakespearean character upon the New York stage, both of which I can do and have done. I disagree that "ignorance is bless." And children aren't necessarily ignorant--have you have observed a 2-year-old develop to be a 3- and 4-year-old. It's magical to watch that beautiful baby brain open and blossom.

Great question! I've thought about that before. My husband has a aunt that lives in another world! She dresses like she's stuck in the 80's, doesn't fix her hair except for church, lives in a little house with 6 yorkies...you get the picture...and she's one of the happiest people I've ever met! It's not that she doesn't care what people think about her, it's that she doesn't know any different!
Ignorance is bliss for some people!
Have a good weekend!

I'm not an atheist, I clicked on your question by accident and was intrigued so I decided to answer. Even Christians are taught to be skeptical of their beliefs. I will agree that many Christians are not but these same people tend to be the ones that are only Christian by name. For me, I maintain my beliefs through personal experience (obviously) and research. I've spent more time than I could ever say reading books, attending seminars, taking courses, watching documentaries...the amount of effort I put into understanding my religion is tremendous! Currently, my main focus is studying the Bible. I've come across scholars and historians such as Colin Hemer (one of my personal favourites) who have been able to document things such as facts from the last few Acts of Apostles that have proven to be true. I take interest in on-going research such as that regarding the large ship formation (yup, think Noah's Ark) in Ararat. A lot of things keep me going in my faith. But anyways, to each their own opinion though I think you've created for yourself a logical fallacy (false dichotomy) by deciding you can only be either "a wise man dissatisfied" or a "fool satisfied." Cheers :)

Yes. I remember being a kid and thinking how great and simple life is. However, it is nice being able to learn things. They do say ignorance is bliss.
