its just the way these men are, who have been brought up around a bad family and think its ok to treat women badly..

First, is a change in policy. For many years, domestic violence calls were ignored-- it was considered a matter between the husband and the wife and the police weren't to get involved. So there were no "DV" calls on police logs. Now of course, that's different. DV calls are responded to and so of course there's going to be a big jump in the number of DV calls on police logs. That doesn't mean, however, that the number of cases themselves have changed-- just the number that police respond to. (Which is again another example of how statistics can be manipulated.)

Second, more women are reporting abuse. Again, this doesn't mean that the actual number of cases has changed, just that more women are reporting it. The stigma of being a battered wife is lessening and more women are realizing that they don't need to stay in abusive relationships. That there are services out there to help them leave abusive relationships. A rise in the number of people using shelters doesn't mean that there's been a rise in the number of abuse cases, just in the number of women are are not tolerating it anymore.

Third, as women gain more and more equality in the work place and take away more and more of the "power" from men (not to overpower, but to have their equal share), men are finding that they're not as secure in their positions of control as they once were. When men made all the decisions and had all the control, they had a feeling of safety. That is changing now as the role of women and men changes. When one starts to lose control, one can become frightened. When one becomes frightened enough, a "flight or fight" instinct kicks in and sometimes the one who is frightened lashes out. In a relationship, this is often the man lashing out at the woman.

Fourth, the media, through advertising, is still showing women as "objects to be possessed". As long as women are objectified, men will feel they have a right to use them as htey want, which can mean as a punching bag for their anger.

Fifth, the recent impact by such groups as "Promise Keepers" and the "Christian Coalition" that affirm the male as the head of the household and women's role as submitting to man. Again, it places men in a position of power. I realize that those pushing these ideas say that a man, to be a true Christian, would take his wife's feelings, etc. into account and never do anything to hurt her, etc. But that's just not the way the real world works. Many men use the Bible and other such texts from other such religious groups as justification for their abusive behavior.

I think it's a combination of a few things. Many women don't give nice guys the benefit of doubt that the jerks always seem to get, and the nice guys are normally finishing last, so they figure "hey being nice doesn't seem to land me with a cool chick at all so perhaps if I act like an jackass perhaps then I'll get a chance."
And there is where the women get confused because it's sometimes hard to tell between the kats who are jerks and genuinely treat women like crap, or the kats who pretend to be jerks so the women will hopefully notice them because they were never noticed for being a good guy in the first place.

Any woman could have a man eating out of the palm of her hand if she had some self respect, pride, dignity and value. YOU SHOULDN'T SLEEP WITH ANYTHING THAT WALKS, BECAUSE HE IS USING YOU FOR SEX ONLY!!! Now what do you think he's going to do after sex, respect you? Now he could care less about you. He got what he wanted.

When a woman lets a man use her for sex, cheat on her, abuse her, etc. then that's what he's going to do. That's the way she is asking him to treat her. Why the hell would he respect that woman if she doesn't?

Years ago woman had so much class and respect. Men had to be so patient and work so hard, before they could even think of having sex to their woman. They had to treat her like gold and do anything she wanted. WOMAN TODAY RUINED THAT RESPECT LIKE I CANNOT BELIEVE. They let men walk all over them. They get pregnant and then he takes off to do it again to the next broad. Children today are growing up to learn that that's life. You just get pregnant from any guy. Nobody has to be in love or get married. Four kids, with four different fathers is common and they probably don't even know the fathers. WELL, IT'S SICK AND THAT'S WHY THEY'RE SO MANY SINGLE MOTHERS OUT THERE!

If you act like a lady, then that's the way you're going to get treated. Act like an ahole and well you figure it out.

Not all men are like that, but once you have been in a relationship like that your self esteem plummets and you end up becoming vulnerable to other men that are the same.

Spend some time on your own and work out what you want from life, and never accept second best.

Because they can. They hide their pain, and do other things to cover it up, whereas, we...let it all out. IT's ok for us to do so. IT's not for them. Thats y they can't stand it when we cry. They know the pain that causes the tears, and they feel bad that they were the cause. But since they don't tear up like we do...they continue to hurt, because they don't put two and two together. But these men who hurt woman after woman....they give the nice ones a bad wrap, and they're stuck with trying to break the barrier their gal put up as a result of u other guys.

Guys don't realize that we get hurt a lot easier than them. They say things the way they think, and a lot of the time, we interpret it wrong. Other than that, if a man had a rocky life as a child, that's all he knows. It's kind of like when a toddler hears mom or dad say sh*t and they repeat it. They don't know better because they heard it come from a parent. If someone is beat as a child, he will normally grow up to beat his children because he thinks that it is ok.
