Sugarcane fuels?

Can somebody explain how south america is using sugarcane to help fuel cars?

How is this going to affect America?

This won't answer you question totally, but it gives information about how Brazil uses sugar cane to make ethanol.

I don't know how this would affect America since I am not sure how much we use sugar cane or products made from sugarcane coming from South America.

This will give you a place to start anyway.
