i got an invitation to mtv but is like at evening and that day is the first day of classes if i go to Mtv I'll miss one class, i have 3 classes that day, i don't want to miss the class but i want to go to MTV so bad! and my sister told me that they are going to move (mtv) to somewhere else. i don't know what to do i know I'm acting really irresponsible with my school but as my friend said mtv is going to be one day, and the first and last time that your going to miss classes so...is the first day of classes important? like what do you do in the first day isn't like introduction of teachers and students? what do you think

my advice is go to the class you can get tickets for mtv events rather easily if you know where and when to look for them. Sure the first day is usually just the introduction for the course going over they outline of what you'll be doing for the semester but its also the first chance at making a good impression on the teacher not showing up the first day says one of two things about you to the teacher. 1 your an idiot who can't find the classroom 2. your a lazy person who doesn't care about their education.
I just hope if you do go to the Mtv event that your not missing a class like I had at college when on the first day the teacher took roll and then told us you miss 3 classes its an automatic grade down at the end of the semester and that day counts and every class missed after those 3 would be another grade lower. As for your statement it would be your first an last time missing classes once you actually start school you'll find that statement will be false within the first 3 months.

Just so you know there are classes that if you miss the first one you are not in the class anymore. Usually on the first day the instructor goes over the syllabus and my eve begin teaching. Also many instructors will give you one free absence and that all. After that they may take point off you r grade. Unless you have an excuse. You can't really say now that you won't miss a class. What if you get sick? Or something else comes up?

Well...normally most instructors hand out and go over the syllabus for the course. They may explain what the course is about, objectives, and/or introductions. Some instructors dive right in and begin lecturing course material, while others dismiss the class early.

It really depends on each instructor. If you insist on missing, see if you can email or leave the instructor a voice message saying that you have to miss the first class but you will be there the 2nd one and have no intentions of dropping.

Honestly? I think you can miss that one class, so long as you have a plan in place for what you'll do to get caught up. If you have a friend in class, have her get you a copy of any handouts the professor gives, and also have her take notes. When the second class meets, if an assignment is due, hand it in.

And you won't be able to miss many more classes during the semester without it affecting your grade, so be careful later on.

Yes, many professors actually teach that first class. A few don't, instead using the time for syllabus and class rules, but most do teach.

Umm...like you get dropped for not showing up the at the first class! You made a commitment, stick with it. As your friend said, Mtv is only one day. So why mess with your schooling for something that is so short lived?

There are two classes to never, ever miss. You don't miss the first day and you don't miss the class before an exam. You can recover from any other absence but these two classes are essential to success in college.
