Have you lost respect for celebrities that have turned to Scientology?

Celebrities are people like anyone else. Scientology is a dangerous, UFO cult (find out for yourself by googling around, or read some of the articles on www.xenu.net . I encourage you to make up your own mind, so look at the Church of Scientology's website, as well) that focuses on making as much money as possible. The attention that has been paid to Scientology recently is nothing new - read Time Magazine's article called "Scientology: The Cult of Greed" from 1992 and you'll see it's been an issue for years.
The real question goes to belief. Can you support someone that doesn't hold your beliefs? Can you respect someone that believes in things you do not? I think that while generally, you should hold respect for people's religious practices, Scientology (which has been deemed illegal and NOT a religion in Germany, Greece, and many other places) is a bit tricky. Do the research and make up your own mind.

Well, I don't know that I had all that much respect for Tom Cruise and John Travolta before they began spouting scientology crap. But I certainly like them even less now. Below is a link to yet another scientology related site.
And the whole flap with Isaac Hayes and South Park didn't sit too well with me either.

haven't read or heard much about Scientology's religion so I can't comment because I didn't do research but I want to check up on the information on your other answer

I've got mixed feelings on the subject. One the one hand, I feel sorry for them as they've obviously been brainwashed and victimized. On the other hand, they're helping to spread the dangerous cult to others which obviously is a very bad thing.
