In theory I'm not a big fan of term limits because I think they interfere with the democratic process. But, in today's political environment it may be time to look at term limits for both the House and the Senate.

I would be happy to be Rove's running-mate.

I definitely support term limits. In many cases, term limits prevent abuse of power and the formation of dictatorship. Although, some argued that term limits are a bad idea. Some people believe the reason it's a bad idea is because it limits the choices of people the public has to vote for. If you have a really good public servant and you want to keep him, you can't. You have to get rid of the good candidate and replace him with someone who's inexperienced. By having term limits, we are eliminating the people who have wisdom and experience from political life. But on the flip side, circumstances could be completely opposite. We could have a person in office who is completely incompetent and needs to be replaced. So, if you really look at it term limits have advantages and disadvantages. But it's usually for the good.

I wouldn't vote ANYONE from Y/A politics for president. For one, most seem to be irrational and extreme with their own beliefs. Second, I don't know anyone personally to make that decision.

Term limits is a dead argument, because term limits already exist in the form of elections. The problem is an uniterested uneducated electorate that lets the parties dictate who best represents the people. If people would get off the couch long enough to learn the issues and their so called representatives voting records and then cast an informed vote, there would be no need to talk about term limits. Term limits are always championed by the party that is not in power, dems or rebs (they both suck)

Term limits are good. People can get too comfortable in their positions. There may be a dearth of new ideas and programs. Long terms can also lead to corruption more easily. I also believe that it is good to change the political party that is in office once in a while.

It is too early to tell who I would vote for. Candidates have not even been selected.

definite, i think in repealing the twenty 2d modification, and in order that by way of fact the Democrats does no longer get too paranoid approximately why i became doing so, i could stipulate interior the repealing modification that it does prepare to the present occupant of the White abode. So Bush could nonetheless could desire to pass away on Jan 20, 2009 besides. yet i think that each and one and all term limits are undesirable recommendations. The voters must be allowed to maintain their incumbents for as long as they desire. To the same quantity that "the Nanny state" shouldn't coddle human beings on the theory that they can't shelter themselves, that is likewise a libertarian theory that the voters do no longer desire any help determining whether or no longer incumbents have been in workplace for too long. i've got not got all people particular in suggestions for the subsequent President. i'm searching for an suitable guy or woman, no longer a real guy or woman.

Yes, I support term limits. Too many of our politicians have been in office too long and special interest groups, large corporations have been able to buy them out. I think that by enacting term limits, we can eliminate many of those problems.

As far as selecting someone from this forum to become our President, I have far too many people on both sides of the fence that I respect. Therefore, I'm not selecting one person over others. :)

I do, on general principal, but our experience here in CA is that they don't really accomplish much. Instead of the corrupt career politicians sitting in one office for 20 years at a time, they play musical chairs, serving in an office for the maximum number of terms, then going on to do something else.
