Summertime at the zoo is awesome! You might try going in when it opens in the morning and head straight for Tiger River. That'll take you down a winding tropical path to the tiger's lair, and along the way you'll see several other great animals. You'll next be at the hippo pond which can entertain some people for hours!
Next you have to decide whether to visit the pandas, or hike on up to the polar bear enclosure. Both are fun, but sometimes there can be a wait for the panda enclosure. I usually pick the polar bears!
If it is getting too warm for your taste, you might consider leaving the park for the midday period (catch the overhead ride back to the park's exit) and try exploring the museums around the neighboring Balboa Park. Lunch can be found at the Reuben H. Fleet Science Center or a handful of other places around the park.
If you do leave the zoo during the midday, be sure and make your way back inside as dusk gets close, to enjoy the many activities that start up inside the gates. There are several musical venues going on which are very fun to watch. I usually try to visit the elephants and camels during this period so as to not have to walk up and down anymore hills. I know you'll have a great time.

There's so many things to see.!!!!! Go to the nursery and go see the pandas. Also buy the big souvenier cup, it costd around $10 but you can get unlimited refills. It's very hot over there during this time so put on sun screen and also take plenty of water. Get there early and if you want to see EVERY THING, then stay for the whole day. Don't be surprised to have a hard time parking and waiting a long time to get in the zoo (IT'S VERY CROWDED!!!!!). Well I went around June, so I don't know how much people are going to be there. Probably not a lot cause kids are starting school. It's really worth it to go there. I've been to so many zoos and the San Diego Zoo is the best!!!!!

the hummingbird aviary. You GOTTA go see Clyde the Orangutan and the pandas, of course. Lunch at Albert's is a must as well, try and get seated on the back patio next tot he waterfall. The chioppino is excellent, as is the fish sandwich.

On harbor stress next to seaport village is the halfway it is an plane service that they have got grew to become right into a variety of museum. it is an adio excursion so which you would be able to bypass as quickly or as sluggish as you like, yet you are able to quite plenty get to almost something you want to determine. It takes a pair of hours a minimum of to get by way of it in spite of the indisputable fact that it is incredibly truthfully worth the time.

They have a wild animal park also. I like the wild animal park more because they are all running around not locked up in pens.
