A friend of mine laughed out aloud in derision when she saw this question. She asked, "Who doesn't?" Obviously she has forgotten all the stuff she had to read 'not for fun' while a student studying for exams. But, having said that, I think the "fun" part of reading for entertainment should include wanting to learn. Fiction writers can entertain us and inform us at the same time. So, do I read for fun? Yes, especially when the fun includes being enlightened as well.

Sometimes. Sometimes I purposefully choose a book I know I fill find it difficult to get throu in terms of language, or how the book is positioned. For example I knew from the start I would have trouble with Herman Hesse Glass Bead Game but stuck with it. I do it to tax myself and try to expand my word use. I wouldnt read something Im not enjoyingm but I wouldnt give up beacuase of the way it is read. I do read for fun and for excapism, when I go on holiday I will read something that isnt too taking so i dont have to use my brain so much!!! Hope that helps!

I read for fun all the time. I can read 5 - 7 books a week sometimes more depending on the thickness of the book. Reading has taught me at least 75% of my knowledge. And is also a great escape from the suckiness of reality. lol.

No, actually. I tell myself I read for fun, but I really don't. I read because its easier to live through the structured lives of fictional characters that it is to live my own life. I read to forget. I read to be lost in a place far, far away from where I am and to just find some sort of meaning and peace.
I read so I don't have to think about whats really going on.

All the time. Some of my friends think that reading is a waste of time and the only thing they read is gossip magazines. I think this is a real shame because I wouldn't be the same without some of the fascinating books I have read which have shaped the way I am today.

Of course. I've never read because someone made me. Every book I've read has been because I wanted to and, whilst some books haven't been that great, most have been 'fun'. Why do you think reading isn't fun?

Yes! My favorite author is James Patterson. I love his Alex Cross novels and his Women's Murder Club books. He is a fantastic writer. Somehow he knows the secret to grabbing your attention and keeping it until the very last page. I also love Nicholas Sparks's novels and the Chicken Soup books. If I have nothing else to read, I love to delve into Stephen King's book, Everything's Eventual, which is 14 of his short stories, such as 1408 and Riding the Bullet.

Reading is always fun, but I also read to get information and learn new skills.
Reading is the key to life!

Heck, yeah!
There are some REALLY good books out there. I know, high school tends to make you think that all books contain indecipherable language and references to the 2nd century.
Not true.
Read things like "Fight Club" by Chuck Palahniuk... Or ANYTHING by Anthony Bourdain.
Then you'll know that reading for fun is an attainable feat.

Yes! Even when I'm asked to read a book I love reading so I do it willingly. I like humour, friction and drama books best. They are fun to read
