I love him!! He's my favorite author. Can you imagine spending 10 minutes (literally) inside his head? Scary stuff there.
Anyway as far as one of the greatest, yes! Absolutely.

I love his work - I'm always (re)reading at least one of his books at a time. In my own opinion, he is the greatest contemporary horror writer, without a doubt. As for all time, I'm not sure. My experience is a little limited, but if I had to give a straight answer, I'd say yes.
He's had an impressive career, quite lengthy, and has given us such gems as It, The Shining, and Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption. I don't know of any other writers in this genre that can say they've had so many of their works turned into movies directed by greats such as Stanley Kubrick...you've gotten me all nostalgic now, I'll have to root out my copy of Different Seasons!

Yes, I love his work and he is the greatest horror writer of all time, horror is not the only thing he does though. And I love all of his works that I have read.

some of his stuff is really amazing... while in some others he's just commercial and he knows it. if he could only concentrate on his amazing stuff and deepen that stuff a bit and work a little harder on his language, yes definetely one of classic horror writers. the thing with King is that he is a really hard working writer that delivers what he promises. he's not a phony. he writes books that you want to follow until the last page and that's a rare thing these days.

I'm not too sure about all time but definetly in my lifetime. I've read his work since Carrie in the 70's and although he's had some really bad ones like Dreamcatchers, his work consistently keeps you on the edge. I will be saddened if he retires like hes been promising. He is one of the great writers of the age.

I haven't read any of his books because, frankly, I just don't like scary books. But I think he must be intelligent and well-read because I read a magazine piece the other day in which he wrote about books he had read in 2006 and recommended some of them and it was very well done and showed good judgement.

he's awesome. i own 90% of his novels, half i've read twice to five times over. he is the greatest, hands down. what amazes me most is that he keeps churning them out... even after retiring twice, a near fatal accident and definitely not in the need of money (unless he has a serious gambling habit).

I like him. Hammy, over the top style (like Dickens). Have actually only read a few though. My favorite (so far anyway) was Thinner.

Hie earlier books were better. I think The Stand was a great and profound book. I think his latter books are just strange.
