I have lived in South Philly all my life and the area is fine.
Pat's and Geno's have great steaks and you can go there any time of the day OR night!

Yes, The area around JIM's is not any worse than the area around pat & genos or tony lukes... i would avoid wandering any of those areas alone at 3am

What's going to happen to someone on south street? Its crawling with cops, day and night. If you're terrified of bros who are jonsin for a steak or a slice after a night of boozin, stay away, but its not philly-style scary.
