they stink and are almost always drunk

I don't hate the homeless, as long as they are indeed homeless. I also don't pity the ones that make 70k+ a year tax free.
On the other hand there are a number of homeless that really need help and a way up.

I don't hate the homeless, but part of life is picking yourself up after you fall down.
If you rely on others to pick you up all the time, sooner or later nobody is going to bother helping you anymore.
For those who are mentally ill and homeless, we need to reopen the psychiatric hospitals that have closed over the last 2 decades and give these people a place to live.
For those who are homeless drug/alcohol addicts, see my comments above.

Personally I respect someone who can survive without needs for long periods of time. When ever I have a chance to help a homeless person I take the opportunity because rewards come with good deeds.

Some homeless, cannot help them selfs for mental reasons,ect. But most have no ambition, are hiding out, or just to lazy. Don't hate some I feel sorry for. Most do not respect anything.

No one should hate the homeless ! What if you were homeless? Would you want people to hate you?

I hate the drug addicts and the alcoholic homeless and they don't deserve as much help as the respectable homeless.

I only hate the ones who feel society owes them something, so instead of getting a job, any job, they decide to hang out on the street and give mean looks to working people.
I don't hate those who live in shelters and are trying to make some sort of independent life for themselves.
