Don't know exactly how it happened, but when I restarted my computer (Windows 98, not the one I'm on right now) and tried to start up Netscape or almost any program, it tells me that it cannot start the file oleaut32.dll. I tried the sfc and scandisk, and it still didn't fix it. I beleive the file is corrupted. Is there anyway to fix it? Will putting in a Windows 98 disk and reinstalling Windows fix it? (don't have one currently, but I can get one if it will fix it)

Also, because this is not working, I cannot get online or run hardly anything on that computer, so downloading something wont work unless there is a way I can tranfer it to that computer from this one.

How can I download and transfer the file without going online on the '98?

Not sure about Win 98 but the following applies to XP so you might give it a try and see if "98" has the same options.

Turn the PC on and put the Win98 disk in the cd drive.

Reboot the pc. The pc should boot from the 98 disk and not from the hard drive.

Hopefully, you get a (black & white) screen that will give you the option of doing a "repair" install or a "full" install.

Select the repair install. This will reinstall/repair any corrupted files such as the ".dll" that is giving you the problem.

If you select the "full" installation it will format your hard drive and you will lose everything on the HD.

Hope this helps.

Try running 'sfc /scannow' which should install the correct version,
although I'm surprised that WFP hasn't done it automatically.

This problem seems to be related to microsoft office. Here's the article:

If you have an office CD, I would try to repair office from the add/remove programs dialog. It will ask you to insert the CD.
