The Democrats may not be able to remove Bush from office but they can impeach him with the simple majority that they have in the House of Representatives.
I don’t think it would hurt the Democrats at all to impeach Bush. The Republicans didn’t suffer from impeaching Clinton even though they knew they couldn’t convict him. The Democrats have more than sufficient grounds to impeach Bush on constitutional violations and violations of the FISA law. My view of the Democratic-led Congress would move from disapproval to approval if they did.

Well--you raise a good point. However, there's another way of looking at this (and, BTW, I don't favor impeachment, although I think Bush and Cheney both deserve it).
First--a lot of people are venting--and if you are going to spend time on Y/A politics or any similar forum, better get used to it! :)
More to the point--don't assume it would hurt the Democrats politically. Polls show 45% of the American people do favor impeaching Bush--the figure for Cheney is even higher.
Two things would have to happen, however. First, there would have to be some really clear-cut event-say, a direct link between warrentless spying on Americans that traced directly to Bush. That's entirely possible. But you would also have to have a more or less complete collabse of the republican coalition in the Senate--and while that coalition is going to give way sooner or later on the Iraq issue, I don't see it becoming so extensive that a 2/3 vote could be achieved--and it would be pointless to impeach without a chance of conviction.
You also suggested that "the Democrats have supported everything Bush has done at one time or another." Sorry--that is simply inaccurate--and they have NEVER supported the knds of actions Bush has taken that point to possible impeacheable offenses--e.g. the use of warrentless/no-court reviewed surveillance).

Most who post questions in the Politics arena of Answers believe they already know the answer and are really just looking to see how many others agree. It's like high school drama all over again. Am I popular? Am I not?
Sadly, (while I've not actually counted) I believe the majority who fall into this group are of a more liberal mindset. This also leads me to believe that they are an unhappy lot. They are unhappy with their personal lives and take no responsibility for where they find themselves. That being the case, they lash out at any easy target of opportunity that happens their way. In this case, they are fixated on Bush. They believe themselves well informed yet most could not tell you about Iran's need to import gas last year and the year prior -- Iran sits atop the world's third largest oil deposit, yet could not export a single drop of petrol... They believe whatever the news media reports as fact when it comes to poles -- so long as it fits their paradigm. Yet they fail to grasp that when it comes to statistics and surveys that there are lies and damned lies.
Sen. Waxman of Ca. has been "Investigating" Bush for years, looking for wrong doings so that he can indict him. Hasn't happened yet. And, most of those screaming for impeachment no little to nothing of either Sen. Waxman or of this land's laws. Like I said, they're just not happy.

True.
Bush will not be impeached because our political system is too dysfunctional. True, his political actions are ripe for impeachment, and if he were a Democrat he would have had his head on a platter YEARS ago, but its too divided for anything to happen.
Hence a lot of the liberal apathy in the private sector.
Sad.
This may not apply to you, but there is an element of hating liberals for the sheer thrill of it that has permeated the right. It is sad to think that is making more people lose interest and not believing that this country is not worthg supporting. It is not simply liberal disdain for institutions that has caused this.

It would actually be in Repubs best interests if we impeached the man. He did violate the Constitution whether you cons want to admit it or not. He needs to pay the consequences. If he violated the Constitution, whoever gets into office next (which will probably be Hillary, and I am NOT a fan of hers) will be able to do the same things, and what's sauce for the goose should be sauce for the gander. How would you cons like it if Hillary ran around violating the Constitution the same way Bush is?

G W Bush is the most visible threat to American freedom there is. During his reign of terror he has systematically modified our civil liberties ( free speech, privacy, assembly. . ) to accommodate his own agenda. The framers of the constitution selected & documented these Ideals because they felt they best reflected the core values of a free nation. In his quest for greed, Bush has betrayed the founders and the people of this great nation. He may not fit the technical deffinition of a traitor, but he still deserves to swing from a tree on the white house lawn.

It's called Bush Derangement Syndrome and a general lack of any positive ideas of their own to promote. Of course, as wrong as I believed that Clinton was in lieing to a grand jury, the pubbies set this whole mentality up by trying to impeach Clinton. Sadly, we have now reached a point in our country's political history whereby policy disagreement is now grounds for impeachment.
BTW, I find it absolutely hysterical that liberals have suddenly become the staunch "defenders" of the Constitution. How laughable that they are the ones that constantly attempt to change and mold it into a "living document".

Usually people who want to impeach Bush are uninformed on most of the issues. This is their way of doing a cop out. Nixon and Clinton were not impeached, how can Bush be any worse than those 2?!!

Maybe because a lot of people think he is the worst president in our history?Maybe because people believe he betrayed his oath of office by ignoring terrorism before 9/11.It also might have to do with him invading Iraq because of distorted(possibly cherry picked) info about the WMDs?Maybe because he resisted any investigation into 9/11 for more then a year?Maybe all the closed door meetings.Like the one with the 9/11 commission.............Remember he refused and wouldn't grant them a meeting unless his buddy Dick attended.........and he didn't have to be sworn in!Personally I fear that there will be another major terrorist attack and he will declare martial law. Then try to cancel the Nov.'08 election citing threats against the polls!Of course "We the People" won't be privvy to the info because it will be classified ultra-top secret!

It's called the principle of protest. As a free society we are allowed to gather and vent what we disagree with. I think that most who do protest know that impeachment is not going to happen but just to voice it sends a message of utmost disapproval. If you think they are stupid and ignorant then you really don't know what your country is all about.
