How would you spell this girl's name to get this phonetic sound (eh-Lean) I do not want it to be pronounced I-Lean, A-Lean, or Ellen; nor do I want it to sound like Lane. Thanks.

It just dawned on me that this is really Helene without the H (that is the sound I am going for...) TY though...

I think some people are confused. She doesn't mean the "eh" like "AY" like the way they said it in Canada!

She means "Elle-EEN"

I'd go with Elene, like Helene. It's pretty.

1] think about this name for a bit. No matter how you spell it, people pronounce and spell 'different' names incorrectly. Your baby is the one who will have to correct everyone, forever; and go through all the red tape when her name is spelled wrong on legal documents.
2] the only phonetic spellings I can think of are Ellene, Ellean or Ellein, but people will still mess it up.
PS: people always spell my husband's name wrong - there are about 17 ways to spell Duane; and they spell my last name wrong! Very annoying!

I agree with Lilly you're gonna have to put an A in front to get people to say it the way you want them to. Trust me. I've lived with a "different" name my whole life. I've even had people argue with me on how to say my own name!
