How much more performance do you get from it vs the standard (6 cell?)

The 6-cell battery will last you up to 2-3 hours without plugging in power supply whereas the 9-cell battery will last you up to 4 hours in this case.

Bear in mind that the battery juts out in smaller series laptop like the 12.1" or even 14" laptop.

Typically a battery lasts 300 charge cycles so unless you pretty much don't plug into a power supply or you have to work long hours outdoors, don't bother to upgrade.

YOU WILL HAVE up to 50% more battery capacity, but it is larger, heavier and sticks out a bit from the back. Dell is one of the only companies to give you a choice and most users will say, yes, it's worth it. Thanks Dell. ALL companies should offer this!

Yes and No, Only if you are going to use with out plugging into a electrical outlet and want it to last for a longer time. It will extend your use time.
