Nah. I won't be here then, so I don't care; they can solve their own problems.

That is a good question the reason why coal should be prevented is because the burning it has an affect on our enviroment, as it emitts little doses of carbo dioxide which increases daily . This gas then fill our O zone layer trapping in heat , increasing temperatures that melts the icelands on the ocean increasing sea levels and killing animals eg elephents rhinos.

Coal is a wonderfully complex substance with many uses beyond simply burning it. Given the deliterious effects of burning coal on a wide scale- not just carbon for those whodon't care, but tons of mercury and other nasties- we would do well to conserve this highly useful resource.

While the combustion of coal is deleterious to the environment, cleaner technologies or gas conversion can be used.
To me it is the EXTRACTION of coal that is so harmful, with technology such as "mountain-top removal" devasting ecosystems and surface water systems.
There are means for in situ (meaning in place) extraction of methane from coal seams by injecting CO2 - this would be an excellent alternative in that the coal beds would NOT be excavated, we could store excess CO2 and extract CH4 for our energy use.

No! Al Gore says NO and that settles it....
He told us he needs more energy for his 10,000sq. foot mansion...and his 7 air conditioning units need all the extra energy America can spare......so help poor Gore out and take shorter breaths and stop breathing so much oxygen so he can be happy again.
