i didn't pick the best answer on purpose many times to see how they vote. the result was not surprising to me. the fact is that yahoo community does not represent the real population! many people still can't afford a computer and an internet. the working poor strugglingand one pay check away from homelessness! people who are doing o.k or better tend to be more conservative since they are afraid of change, they are afraid that any change may cause them to loose their materials ie; refrigrator with butter warmer! your input please

Great question.

My observation has been that the majority of people on yahoo answers are dumb. Straight up sheep and stupid.

So stupid people usually believe whatever authority and media tell them to believe and since the government and especially mainstream media are for the war and things like that that's what they support and they think they are smart.

Meanwhile the government and media just sit back and laugh at how uninformed and apathetic the public is.

Troubling indeed, and you make some good points here. The last time I checked middle class Americans make of the majority of our country and we are the ones who've been getting screwed for the past 6+ years. You would think we would be better represented on YA. Although I live in a middle class area I was surprised a couple of years ago to learn that a large portion of our community did not have a computer or Internet access. Those who pointed this out didn't seem to be very well spoken or intelligent either. Maybe too much prime time TV rather than catching a glimpse of the news to learn about what's going on perhaps...? Is that the problem: Most middle class Americans don't realize that they're getting screwed until it's too late...?

Hmmm... What's a butter warmer...?

hahahaha...archkarat, that was a good one. your sarcasm is delightfully funny. YA! is in no way "liberal"....the majority of the questions posted are totally conservative in nature and it is so easy to pick out those that are conservative and those that are liberal. The radical right and left are easily identifiable for their answers which tend to just point the finger of "blame" the other way. There are also a good portion of people in YA! that are moderates with both conservative and liberal view points depending on the subject.

As to the question above and why there are a disproportionate number of conservatives that answer your questions and vote for the best answer...that's the easy part. Rank and file - assimilated - they are the only ones with the correct answer and by voting in numbers they hope to convert you to their thinking and assimilate you into the party.

Thank God that there are more 'independent' thinkers out there that keep the balance between the radical right and the radical left in check.

Group voting and point gaming. You'll notice that often a question that the bush-davidians want to answer will get six to a dozen answers almost immediately. Changing avatars and nicknames is easy, as is having multiple accounts. See how quickly half a dozen have already hit here?

What happens when cheating is a way of life I suppose.

The topper was one where a question with two answers had 32 voters and 32 stars.

If you track some of these you will see how often the nicknames and avatars are changed.

Many of the Cons/Reps on Y!A have admitted to forming multiple accounts. They ask questions and select them self or their friend for best answer. The conservative party is almost like a cult now a days. They shelter themselves away from all reason, facts and anything that might shed some light on their ignorance.

I have noticed. Any answer that objects to American imperialism is erased, but a bunch of hooey about UN, Arabs and the bombed planet is left standing.
I suggest we report this all over the place to generate coverage - even up the corporate chain at Yahoo.
Something VERY fishy at this CONservative site

I find that there is a good mix on yahoo answers from far left to far right and in between. As for your socio-economic break down on who is conservative and why, it was a little sophomoric. There are poor people that do not want a government handout but want to make it on their own, which is a conservative notion, and there are very wealthy people that want to see this country socialized, which is a very liberal dream.

I've left a couple for Yahoo to vote on too... I can safely say they haven't voted best answer for someone who called me a crazy lib and told me off in their answer.

So whether they voted for the conservative person over the liberal person on my questions is still up in the air.

I disagree. I think the average person is more conservative than liberal. Conservative does not mean closed-minded and intolerant. In fact I find mostly the opposite is true

If you are saying that adding in the homeless population is going to change the percentages a whole lot, you are misguided (and I suspect one of the liberal minority)

I don't entirely understand your question. Some people make a point to go back and vote for best answers and some don't.
