In any ancient civilization the job areas with the majority of workers would be in the agrarian, quarrying, and mining areas. However, this does not count slaves as your question stated "their living," which implies a salary.

^There were many ancient civilizations and it depends which era your talking about. So I will generalize.

Most farmed and/or hunted, lived off the land, and sold their extras, fruit, vegetables, meat, eggs, milk, fur etc.

Some made wine there were also cobblers who made sandals and shoes, some spun wool or weaved cloth for clothes. There were tin smiths and black smiths. There were peddlers who sold their wears. People who made weapons like knives and swords etc.

In prehistory as nomads, then farmers, always ready for war over territory. The ancients, since the Mesopotamian days, did what we do now, make beer, clothes, write (scribes), soldiering, forging metals etc.
