Black people are speaking out everywhere that Michael Vick is NOT a victim and that he should pay for his crimes. I have never heard so many African Americans calling in to the local sports radio station I listen to, and all who were articulate, and spoke with intelligence ALL said that the NAACP should stay out of this, Michael Vick is not a victim.

However, there was an old white southern redneck that called in that said he kills dogs all the time, stray dogs that wander onto his property. He ties them up in sacks and drops them in the river to drown. He didn't see ANYTHING wrong with what Michael Vick has done.

Most African Americans have dropped the issue of race concerning Michael Vick, I think the whites should be gracious enough to do the same.

(I am white myself, and I am absolutely astonished at the about face of the African American community concerning Michael Vick and I feel so very proud of them for doing so. There is NO way the NAACP would have backed off of their support of Michael Vick if it had not been for an overwhelming outrage by the African American community concerning the ATlanta Chapter NAACP speaking out in defense of Michae Vick) Now the next black man who is falsely accused and persecuted for a crime that IS actually a racially motivated, I believe the white public will be much more willing to consider the circumstances and agree if it is the case)

As far as I'm concerned, race should never be a factor when it comes to sentencing a criminal. Michael Vick is getting it easy. He's getting the celebrity treatment. What he did is inexcusable and he should be punished to the fullest but since he's a big celebrity, he's getting it easy. Nobody (white, black, hispanic, asian, famous or not) should ever be cut any slack for crimes like this.

How in the Hell do you not want an OVER EMOITIONAL answer for a ridiculious question like this? I think personally the question is stupid ..and secondly he's going to get it regardless if he's the color of the sun.! So why even dispute this race issue?

I don't care if he is rich, an ex football star, or black, he should be severely punished because he held a role model status to the youth of America.

In the wise words of NFL Indianapolis Colts Head Coach Tony Dungy, "I try to get across to our players that a lot of people will admire you for how you play, but in the long run, it is more important to have them admire you for how you live."

Skin color has no impact on this case but he should be put in jail for the max and his NFL career should be over to show other players that the NFL is serious and they need to stay away from criminal activities if they want to have the privilege of playing in the league.

Slavery was a horrible thing that should never have happened, but how does that relate to someone abusing and killing dogs two hundred years later? Why in the world should he be acquitted of his crimes because of slavery in the past? He was never a slave. If anything he is getting special treatment because of his celebrity status.

No. The NAACP was on CNN talking that because he was a talented person they hoped the courts would take that into account. I watched this myself.....this is not rumor. I am not saying they were asking because of his culture.......I am saying they did represent themselves in asking in his behalf. The law must be unbiased.

I don't care if Michael Vick is blue, pink, or purple. The color of his skin isn't at issue. It's the intent of his heart and mind we are punishing here. Last time I looked, internal organs of all races were the same color. And you know what? The blood of those animals/dogs is the same color as his, mine, and all of us.

i think he should get the same punishment as a white person, no more, and no less. My friends are racially punished in school, and its not fair, so i hope they do the right thing and give him the correct sentance.
