So...
d^-4 e^2 f^2 = (e^2 f^2) / d^4

moving the exponent up or down changes its sign. Just move the d^-4 down to the denominator, and it becomes d^4. The problem is finished. Remember, a whole number can be written as a fraction. Ex. 4=4/1

Using a^(-b) = 1 / (a^b):

d^(-4) e^2 f^2
= e^2 f^2 / d^4.

A negative exponent tells you that the quantity is in the denominator of a fraction. So d to the 4th is in the bottom and e & f squared are on top. And since e & f have the sasme power then they can have a common square in this case.

your answer is:

(ef)^2 / d^4

d^-4e^2f^2
= 4e^2f^2/d^4

Because, when you have a negative exponent, you move it to the opposite side of the fraction line, removing the sign of the exponent.
