If a corset is proper made you can breath just fine. normally a corset is made to pull in the waist which will not affect your your breathing.
I make and wear corsets and have never had problems breathing.
If when you lace up a corset you have trouble breathing, then the corset is not the right size for you or you have laced it entirely too tight too fast.

The women is build as they can breath by four children in the belly. The shallow breathing demand some exercise.

It's painfully stupid, what they did with those. Not only did they create breathing issues, which induced fainting and such, but it caused many miscarriages because it squeezed the stomach so hard. Many pregnant women wanted to look skinnier, and they thought tucking it in tight would make it seem like they weren't pregnant. But then the baby died, and they probably would too if they didn't get help.

Yes because the stomach is completely restricted, so most of the work (breathing) is being done up top.

They are hard to breath in. Instead of taking in deep breathes they had to take in smaller and shorter ones. and yes u had to breath from ur top chest.

yup.i don't mind as long as i look good.i wore a dress that was size too big for me once and now i won't wear a dress unless it's tight enought to show off my curves.

back in the 1800 they use to break that top rib just so they can put it on, thier waist line had to be no bigger then 21' as a young lady...true fact...;)
