I used to read a lot of fantasy, but then it got harder to find something I'd like, if that makes sense. If anyone could suggest anything, I like Trickster's Choice and Trickster's Queen by Tamora Pierce, Eragon and Eldest by Christopher Paolini, Harry Potter, obviously, so please don't give me a thousand of those, and yes, I've read Twilight and New Moon even though that's not technically fantasy. I'm working on getting Eclipse now. Just clearing the air, because I know I'll be getting tons of Potter and Twilight recommendations. I do prefer romance with the fantasy, but I guess it's okay if it's not there. Thanks in advance for your help!

I did read Inkheart, and it was okay, just not my cup of tea, I guess. And I was planning on starting Lord of the Rings later this year; my friend has all the books, and I was going to borrow them from him.

Have you tried Anne McCaffrey's Pern series? I haven't read them in years, but I remember there being lots of action, adventure and romance. Also, try some of Marion Zimmer Bradley's Darkover novels.

Sharon Shinn's books are really good. She has a series about a world where there's a race of angels and humans. The angels are the leaders. There's usually a bit of romance between a couple characters, usually a human and an angel.

She also has a series that's more traditional fantasy (sword fights and magic and stuff) that starts with the book "Mystic & Rider." Again, there's some romance, but the plot is mostly the fantasy story.

Have you read "Inkheart"? I forget the author off the top of my head. That one's about a girl and her dad who can read characters out of stories.

Also, Garth Nix has a trilogy that's pretty unusual. The first one is called "Sabriel." I also read the first of his "Keys to the Kingdom" series, which I liked a lot. It's called "Mister Monday." These are less romance-y, but are still really good stories.

Generation Dead by Daniel Waters is a teen fantasy romance novel. It's about a girl caught up in a love triangle involving two zombie teens. There is a sequel to it called Kiss of Life and a book three titled Passing Strange is coming out in June.

I have answered this question so many times, I decided to dedicate a web site to answer this question. Here it is:

http://www.life-after-harry-potter.com

Included is a list of only the best sorcery fantasy books, grade reading level, a short review of each book, and a "reader's choice" list of favorite books.

There is some romance in "The Once and Future King", Steinbeck, "The Last Unicorn", Burton, "A Spell for Chameleon" and "7th Son". I would say "A Spell for Chameleon" has the most romance, since the driving force behind the "quest" is Bink's desire to marry a certain girl.

I hope this helps.

I've enjoyed many of the books that you mentioned. One that I noticed missing was Across the Nightingale Floor by Lian Hearn. That whole series (Tales of the Otori) is excellent in my opinion!!! Also I like books by Garth Nix (Sabriel, Mister Monday, etc). Phillip Pullman definitely has some good reads as well though no doubt you've read those as well. Also Eoin Colfer (Artemis Fowl). I just finished reading A Great and Terrible Beauty and its sequel Rebel Angels which were alright as well. Hopefully you haven't read all of these and can enjoy a couple of hours reading time :)

I'm not huge on the romance novels....but have been reading the Sword of Truth series by Terry Goodkind and it has more romance than traditional fantasy/sci-fi does. It's an awesome series and even though it is def. not Sci-Fi you'll find it in that section of the bookstore. The first book is called Wizards First Rule.

My fave is the Alvin Maker series by Orson Scott Card. This is fantasy though Cards other novels are more hard core sci-fi.

also try anything by Margaret Weiss and Tracy Hickman-all the Dragon Lance books are awesome and their Death Gate Cycle is amazing though its really hard to find and you'll probably have to order on-line.

Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time series is decent

The Hobbit and the Lord of the Rings by JRR Tolkien is a wonderful fantasy tale. If you saw the movie the book is completely different and much much better. Its right up your alley.
