JL's the best; just to fill in the tiny blank - both HCl and NaOH are ionic molecules: they occur in solution as H+ Cl- and Na+ OH-. Being dissolved in water allows them to freely re-organize into H+ OH- (aka H2O) and Na+ Cl-.

the hcl will break down into h and cl
the naoh will break down into na and oh

these will then react to form h2o (water) and nacl (sodium chloride)
