I need the uv to look for organic matter. I got a stray cat peeing all over my front porch and I want to use the light to find where so i can clean it properly. I read to get a uv black light....i could only find a "black light" at the store and the guy at the store didnt know anything about uv. ARRRGH! I tried out the black light in the basement ( where i can get complete darkness ) but all it showed was how white my teeth are ...i need some one to tell me about uv or i need some one to come bleed on my basement floor so I know if I got the right lightbulb ...thanks for any info!

"Black light' is low energy U.V.
Even that is not good to look directly at for any
length of time.
You will have a hard time buying high energy U.V. lights because they are hazardous to your sight.
If you want to test it, pee on the floor yourself . :-)

Not sure about the UV but are you wanting to use it to grow plants? If so, any normal white fluorescent light works very well. Never heard of using black light. Gro-lights are kind of purplish but you don't really need them if you are growing plants.
