Maybe it's just me, but I don't know why ESPN shows so much Little League World Series (LLWS). I think it's boring to watch a ton of games being played by 11 year olds. If I wanted to go watch kids play baseball, I would just go to any park on the weekend and watch a little league game. I realize that these are all-star teams or in some cases, the country's best little leaguers, but at the end of the day, they are still just kids. I'm not trying to knock the kids because I'm sure they're really talented, but so are the women in the WNBA, but that doesn't mean it's fun to watch.

I don't understand why they don't just show an MLB day game instead. Especially considering that the MLB season is beginning to heat up around this time of year with a lot of close divisional races. I'm just curious, do you watch the LLWS on ESPN? If so, why do you watch it? Do you prefer ESPN show these games instead of other sports being played by adults?

Some of you guys made a very good point by saying that kids like watching other kids play ball. I suppose if I were 11 years old, I would have more interest in watching.

As for those who suggested I just turn the channel... Well, that's exactly what I do, but that's besides the point. I remember when I was a kid, they would show the championship LLWS game between the top US team and another country's top team. Now days, ESPN shows nonstop LLWS for a couple of weeks or longer. I don't have a problem with them showing the final game, but do we have to have LLWS marathon everyday on ESPN?

i still like to watch it...i must admit it is not as fun to watch it anymore because i am now atleast 4 years older than all of the kids playing in the games...but i think 11 and 12 year old kids like watching other kids their age play baseball!!! Sometimes a LL game may even be more interesting than an MLB game...did u see the curacao vs venezuela game or japan vs taipei...i'm guessing u didn't...also i'm betting you would never see a 30 to 3 score in the LL...like u did in the MLB the other night!!!

No i think it should be shown on ESPN...
they arent just a bunch of 11 yr olds who dont
know how to throw a ball...they are some of the most
talented young player in the world! Gary Shefeild played in
the LLWS and look at where he is now! And it gives them hope for the big leagues and and encourages them to keep
playing...

So yeah its not a waste of time

Hey, Baseball would not even exist anymore if it doesn't attract young viewers who will be baseball players and fans someday.
These kids aren't being paid millions of dollars to play. They do it because they love the game.

Give the kids a break.... At least they don't need STEROIDS to hit a baseball.
That's right NO STEROIDS in Little League.

But too many people are just too jaded to care, what their professional athletes are juiced up on.

That is just sad...

Id watch the little league world championship game over game 7 of the world series anyday. After all the little league WORLD series actually lives up to its name with the best teams from around the world.

I'm with you on this one. I'd rather watch professionals play a game than to spend my time watching kids, no matter how "pure" or fun it's supposed to be.

Unless my kid is playing, or unless I'm coaching or scouting a team, then I don't have much interest in watching kids play any sport. I'd rather watch the major leaguers.

If you don't like it, I have three pieces of advice for you.

A - Watch the Oxygen channel
B - DON'T WATCH!
C - Change the channel

These kids have worked their butts off, giving up summer vacations and missing school (in some cases) to live a dream they may never have a chance to have again. There are some 11 year olds that may never have a chance to see a baseball game or play a game, for that matter.

Since we're being forced to watch NASCAR and soccer, I think the LLWS is a great change of pace.

I only watch the semis and finals! I don't need to see the kids from Zimbabwe get destroyed by Japan!

I don't watch it but its probably best for younger kids to watch it so they can see kids there own age playing.

I like it, it is a change of pace as well as a chance to watch kids my own kids age play. I coach a lot of baseball so my view may be jaded.
