I don't believe in Hell. However if I did, I would want Hitler to be in the hottest part.

People in the US didn't think ANYTHING of Hitler for over 10 years, despite all the horrible things he did. Don't believe me? Let's review:

* When Hitler became chancellor of Germany in 1933, what did the United States do? NOTHING.

* When Germany invaded Poland in 1939, what did the United States do? NOTHING.

* When Germany invaded Denmark and Norway in 1940, what did the United States do? NOTHING.

* When Germany invaded France in 1940, what did the United States do? NOTHING!

* When Germany bombed England in 1941 in the "Battle Of Britain", what did the United States do? NOTHING!

Only after the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941 did the United States begin to DIRECTLY get involved with World War II. And it was only after the United States declared war on Japan that Germany declared war on the United States!

So what did the United States think of Hitler? Clearly the United States didn't think much of Hitler for over 12 years! He conquered 2/3 of Europe and murdered countless millions in his conquest before the United States took action. Once we did he was no match for the US in the West and the USSR now pressing in from the east. But imagine what might have happened if Hitler had been stopped back in 1939 when he invaded Poland? How many lives might have been saved?

BOTTOM LINE: Appeasement doesn't work!

This is going to be an unpopular opinion, but we studied it in college. He definitely was pure concentrated evil, a totally despicable man. However, he was also a brilliant man (Time magazine even had him as Man of the Year before his evilness came out.) He was also crazy, but somehow masterminded the growth of the Third Reich and could lead them.

So. Don't get me wrong, he was a horrible man. But smart, yet deluded in his thinking with his treatment of Jews and the genocide.

I can't speak for the entire US, but I can give my own opinion, even though I wasn't alive during his reign, I can say that what he stood for and the things he did were pure evil. No one person should have the right to do the things he did. It sickens me to think of the hundreds of thousands of people that were murdered and tortured. I wish they would have found him alive and we would have had the opportunity to have tormented him every day for the rest of his life.

Although intense propaganda portrayed him as antisemitic, others saw him as someone who stood up against communism and the victors justice (the treaty of Versailles).

For the most part he was hated. There were some who supported him including the Bush family. It is well documented!
