I find that I much prefer the sound of the tenor sax to the alto sax that I currently play. It has a much richer tone. Should I switch?

Go for the baritone.
I always prefer sax with the bigger instrument.

It depends. I play alto and I notice we play much more melody (which I personally think is more fun) than the tenors. It seems the tenor parts are mainly repetitious rhythm, which I don't care much for. However, if you're playing jazz then the tenor wouldn't be a bad choice.
-Also, since the tenor sax is bigger then the alto, I believe there is a little delay when playing notes because it takes longer for the air to travel out of the horn. The delay shouldn't be very long compared to the alto, in fact, you might not notice at all if you do switch.

Well to have a sax change you need live for a year acting like the opposite sax so you will have the opportunity to try it out before you have to commit to it.
But I personally would say to keep on as you are. The grass always seems greener on the other side but you will find in reality that it is often not. If life is not terrible just now then why take the risk of switching just because of a "preferance" rather than a dire need ?

Well yes! B/C it sounds like you want to. And I hate the alto. It's so squeaky. Tenor is way better!!!!!!
