I have experienced dizziness when I stand from a sitting position. I also have experienced dizziness when I am getting up from lying down. Closing my eyes until I am standing up has helped . Also, changing my position slowly has helped me. I don't take any prescriptions, just vitamins. Senior years can be difficult at times. Eat some candy and drink a cup of coffee. A microwave heating pad on my back has helped me too. Rita

well its just that your blood was used to being so easily pumped to the brain while sitting or laying down. but when you stand up, gravity makes it go suddenly slower than it was wile sitting or laying down. the reason why you get dizzy is because there was a short period of time when your brain didnt get as much oxegen as it did. also blurring your eye-sight for a while. trust me, this happened to me when i get up every morning! hope that helps!!!

AS you age your blood vessels become less flexible so they cannot adapt quickly to position changes. When you get up do it slowly and give your body a chance to adapt. And, as others said, you could have high BP-get it cked over a period of time and keep track of it. One reading does not tell the story. Your local fire station will probably do it for you.

It is caused from the blood pressure being lower until you sit up and it evens out throughout your body. It also could be from an inner ear problem. The inner ear has fluid that can cause imbalance. Check with your Dr.

I don't know your age, but it sounds like you might have high blood pressure. I don't think most people get dizzy after getting up, I know I don't. If you're serious, go to the Dr.

Head rush.. all the blood is rushing to the other parts of your body, and it leaves less blood in your head. This makes you feel dizzy, or see fuzzy, or 'black out' by only being able to see black.

get up more slowly, your symptoms are caused by getting up too fast, gravity pulls the blood out of your brain and towards your feet and the body can't adjust quickly enough.
