If you plan on making a living, visit some employment sites and see what the requirements are for jobs that appeal to you.
Requirements for software engineering most often include Java, followed by C++, C, HTML, Javascript, CSS, various DB and script languages like MySQL, Oracle, PHP, cgi, Perl, etc. MANY other requirements appear less frequently including the Microsoft-only stuff like C# .NET and even VisualBasic. All of this changes over time.
Again, visit employment sites (like monster.com) and check the requirements for the jobs that sound good to you.
