I have read the Wilkipedia definition but to be honest I didn't really understand what it meant. Can someone please explain it to me in slightly simpler terms.

Deism means that you can know "God" from your experiences and reason. This means that what you experience "God" to be may be different than what I do.

Theism means that "God" revealed himself through a book and that book is the source of truth about him.

A theist would check "the book" to see if a deist was right, and a deist would use reason and personal experience to check if "the book" was right.

The problem is personal experience and reason alone can be faulty if not tested and researched and "books" that make assertions or record events without evidence or collaboration are fiction.

Deism is basically the world according to you. However you experience "god" in nature and the world around you IS god.

As opposed to Theism... which is religion, or God, according to holy writs and texts and materials handed down by others.

A Deist is someone who believes in god but doesn't believe in the divinity of Christ or in miracles. They also believe the only part of the World God had a hand in was Creation
