I am scared to tell my boss and his wife who is my manager in an office that I'm pregnant. I'm scared because his wife always makes fun of girls who gets pregnant early and my boss likes to embarrass me. Is this harrassment if they try to embarrass me and make fun of me? I don't know when to tell them either, and some of the guys I went to school with work out in the shop part and will probably talk about me and I don't want to feel like dirt because of all of these people.

If your boss makes fun of you for being pregnant (or for anything else) or tries to embarrass you, then yes, that is harassment. As hard as it may be, the next time they make a comment to you that make you feel bad or embarrassed you need to make a comment back that they need to be careful as what they are doing is harassment, that will stop them and if it doesn't then you need to take further action. You should not be made to feel guilty about being pregnant this is a time in your life to celebrate!!

Good luck and here is a link for more info on harassment in the workplace and what you can do:

Well I feel for you hun! I don't know how old you are but, it doesn't seem like your in high school or anything. I am 24 and prego with my first! I think that's a pretty good age but a lot of people seem to think it's young. I'm not sure what you can do about the remarks they will make, you might want to research the harrasment laws and go from there. Try not to worry about what other people are saying. THis should be the happiest time of your life and you need to learn to enjoy it for hte sake of your baby. They can tell when mommy is upset or stressed. So, you need to create a Happy enviroment for this little blessings.
Best of luck and Congrats!

I would wait as long as possible to tell them until they just absolutely figure it out on their own. Unless you live in a town like i do and if youve even told one person they probably already know about it. Either way, anything that makes you feel uncomfortable is harassment especially if it happens repeatedly. Every time sometime makes you feel uncomfortable happens, document it! Send an email yo your supervisor simply stating you felt uncomfortable and make sure you save it in your outgoing mail or print it and take it home. Yes, they may fire you. But you can always draw unemployment and if you have the harassment documented may have a good lawsuit as well! It is your right to have a child and no one should make you feel bad about it!!

Yes it is harrassment and I would call them on it.Get a lawyer if you have to.
That said I would wait till you start showing to tell them.

But the main thing is to hold your head up and not let people make you feel like dirt b/c honey if they are talking about you they are giving others a break. And the obviously have no life or no way to make themselves feel better except for making others feel like crap.

Hold your head up

Well its really none of their business to be honest. If you do tell them and they make fun of you this is harassment and just tell them that you feel that you are being harassed and do not appreciate it. I'm sure they would stop. Dont worry about what everyone else things, just focus on your job so you have a job to come back to if you want it after you give birth :) Otherwise, failure to do your job could cost it.

Okay how old are you? What people say should not matter. And if the boss makes fum of you tell then that you do not appreciate their comments and that it makes you uncomfortable...About people you went to school with, oh well it is your body and your business....Forget about everyone else and focus on you and the baby...

Hi. Don't be scared. Wait until you are feeling GREAT and tell them "You have exciting news for your boss & you hope that he and his wife will share in your joyous transition into motherhood." Let him also know how great you are feeling and how this will not affect your work habits etc. Keep up the "how happy you & your boyfriend/husband are and how you want them all to be HAPPY FOR YOU."
Congradulations & enjoy your Pregnancy.
Don't let anyone upset you and your baby. Stay positive. :-)

Suck it up and deal with it. Are you excited about it? If you are, that's all that matters. Don't let what other people say bring you down. Im 20 years old dating a 37 year old and am 11 weeks pregnant, I hear/heard a lot of stuff during our 4 year relationship and our pregnancy, but I am still enjoying every bit of it. Just let them know and eventually, they will be excited for you as everyone is with me and my boyfriend!

You tell them when your ready. Remember eventually your going to start showing so before than is ideal. If they say something that you don't approve of then tell them you didn't appreciate their comments. If they continue after you've told them it bothered you that is harassment. As for the guys that you went to school with ignore them guys are jerks anyways. It's their nature to be ignorant.
