you are at a higher risk of preeclampsia developing again but each pregnancy is different, there's no guarantee you will not...My first pregnancy i had it and i was miserable, and had to take my baby out a couple weeks before the due date and with my second child i had complications..so it just depends.

Have you told your doctors about your headaches and racing heart? I was put on bedrest at 36 weeks for preeclampsia with my first, and at 37 weeks I started to get headaches and blurred vision and they induced me right away (since I was term). Preeclampsia can prevent proper blood flow making it harder for your baby to get the proper nutrients and oxygen, but it is also really dangerous for you. If it gets really out of hand you can end up having seizures and other complications as a result. I would call your doctor and tell him about these symptoms immediately. Thank god I got induced when I did, I had a seizure in the hospital. Who knows what could have happened if I hadn't called. You should get checked to make sure your preeclampsia is not getting worse. Good luck!!!

No, it doesn't automatically mean that, but as with any pregnancy, be sure to have regular prenatal checkups and report to your doctor any unusual swelling (more than normal swelling of ankles, any swelling of face, eyes, etc.). If you are concerned, keeping a blood pressure monitor at home will also help. Take a regular reading at the same time each day, preferably the morning. Any rises in blood pressure should be reported immediately to your doctor. Anything over 130/75 is probably getting up there.

No ,it depends on your weight and food you eat. If your pregnant and you have high cholesterol or high glucose or are overweight you will have more probabilities of having preeclampsia. For a better diagnostic you should visit your Doctor so he/she can evaluate your probabilities of having Preeclampsia. Also you can exercise yourself during the pregnancy period to lower your risk and start eating right.

No, I had it the first time too and my b.p. did start to rise in the last few weeks of my 2nd but I did not have any problems. I have actually read an article that it is mostly a first time mom thing. Don't worry and good luck!

No. Once you have had it with one pregnancy you will not get it again. It is very very very rare for a woman to get preeclampsia more than once. I was the rare exception and managed to have it with all three of my children. Mine was trigered by other health issues. You can ask your doctor the percentage of return of it with a second pregnancy. I forget. It is really extremely rare. My doc had me documented as one of the rare cases. do not worry as your doctor will watch for the signs of return. Don't worry though.

i had it with my first pregnancy. i also gained 68 pounds with that pregnancy. this time my blood pressure has been beautiful (I'm 38 weeks)... but I'm pretty sure the fact that I've only gained 34 pounds this time has a lot to do with it.
