The Christian Scriptures do not directly comment on tattoos, but the Jewish Mosaic Law did forbid tattoos for true worshippers of Jehovah.

(Leviticus 19:28) You must not put tattoo marking upon yourselves. I am Jehovah.

While true Christians (such as Jehovah's Witnesses) recognize that obedience to the Jewish Mosaic Law is no longer required, they still value its principles and for that reason alone many bible students have conscientious objections to having their bodies tattooed.

Jehovah's Witnesses do not consider getting a tattoo to be a serious sin, but they do consider that it can unnecessarily introduce an obstacle to the personal ministry required of each Christian minister. A Christian who hopes to qualify for privileges in his congregation will not get a tattoo, and will work to minimize the distraction of any tattoos he already has.

There is no specific JW doctrine about "tattoos" . There is, however, general doctrine about the body being a temple yada yada. So while it may not officially be "wrong", certain members may frown on it .
