It depends on what test you received the score of 120 on. If it was an online test, no telling. The online tests are purely for entertainment and amusement. If it was on a standardized test administered by a qualified individual, that individual would also have interpreted the score for you. Which leads me to believe your test was not standardized, therefore, meaningless.

When IQ tests were introduced they attempted to standardise on 100 as being the mode, median and mean (that is, the average!).
Tests were planned to provide marks following a normal distribution (the so called bell shaped curve) with the population peak being around the 100 mark and then tailing off at a predicted rate equally upwards and downwards.
I believe that in robust tests a general IQ of 120 puts the testee within the top 25% of scorers while and IQ of 80 puts the subject within the bottom 25% of scorers.
Proper IQ tests make adjustments for age.
The results of such tests (even if professional admistered) have limited external validity and there have been reports that the 'average' has actually shifted upwards from 100. This does not make empirical sense but probably reflects the needs of society to ensure no one 'fails'

Anyone within 90 to 110 would fall in the 'average' range. IQ tests done properly take age into account when calculating your score.
Taking into account how intelligent your average person is though (not very), its all relative whether you consider 120 good or not.
Its better then average though ;)

IQ is based on average for that age.
average is 100, so 120 means you are smarter than the average person your age.

120 is above the average of a very large population. However you should take into account that IQ averages vary a lot in different locations. 120 may be quite common in a university belt, for example, while it would be notable in, uhm, congress?

100 is dead-center on the bell curve of IQ scores, while anywhere from either 90-110 or 85-115 is considered "normal".
