Ditto to copper, we really do need more information here. like:

1. What kind of fish is Luke and Aucaq?
2. What size tank do you have them in?
3. What other fish, if any, do you have with them?
4. How long has this tank been up and running with them in it?
5. What is your water chemistry readings? (ammonia, nitrite, nitrate and ph?)
6. What kind of filtration do you have for the tank?

We really do need a little more information even if at least just the type of fish and tank size ect.. Outside of that, my only other guess is....Luke found out he was gay? lol sorry. Email me if you need to anytime.

You don't mention what size tank the fish were in, or how long you've had them. Whenever a fish dies, or acts differently, one of the first things to suspect is water quality. Have you tested your tank water for ammonia, nitrite, or nitrate? If you don't normally test these yourself, take a sample (in a clean container) to your pet store and they will probably test the water for you. Ammonia and nitrite should be zero, and nitrate should be less than 40 ppm.

If these were kept in a small tank (10 gallons or less), the size might have been fine for them while they were small, but larger fish produce more wastes than small ones, so as they grew, first one may have been overcome, then the other is now showing effects. As adults, common goldfish can grow 10-18" and the fancy varieties can get 6-12", so these need to have tanks of around 20 gallons for a single fish, and at least 10 more gallons for every additional fish.

Another thing for you to check is the temperature - now that it's hot, the warmer water can't hold as much dissolved oxygen, and this may be causing some of the problems. Goldfish prefer water under 75o, and under 70 would be even better.

A fish is a member of the animal kingdom and while they are not the Einsteins of the animal world they still think, feel pain and bleed. The Vegetarian Society's official website says that 'A vegetarian eats neither Fish, Flesh nor Fowl' . In short they don't eat anything with a face. at the moment you are a pescavore a non - meat eating omnivore. To earn the veggie tour-shirt you will have to cut out the fish and seafood!!!!

If there aren't any other fish in the tank Luke could be lonely

Or

He could be shy of meeting other fish that are already in the tank (if they're bigger he is scared/ or if there smaller he doesn't want to hang around them),

I dont think he's going to die( unless he's really old).
A friend of mine had the same problem, so she asked a professional if there are diseases that fish are effeted by from parasitic waters and he said that she should take a water sample and send it to a toxicology. It turned out to be "Acute Posioning."

He probably misses her if they have been together for a long time! The only thing u can do is buy the same kind of fish his wife was and hope they get along. Or when she died it could have had some disease and it got passed to him!

Maybe you need to change the water a little more. Fish don't die of missing another fish. What got the first fish likely is attacking the other fish now.

when my fish started doing that they died..
anyway
it might just be a loneliness thing, when one of my fish died, the other goldfish in the tank got very restless, and kept swimming up and down the side of the tank..
when i got a new fish, she stopped.
it might just be that shes lonely...have you tried finding a replacement?
