I know it's normal to have a little blood but I just happened to look in the toilet before I flushed and there were tiny chunks of dark red blood. It doesn't look like a mucus plug, but I have slight cramping... is this normal? These chunks are tiny by the way, like no bigger than a pen cap.

You never know, but if you are spotting with cramping it would be a good idea to call your doctor. Sometimes spotting and cramping can occur after an exam like that, especially at the end of the pregnancy. It could be nothing, but then again, it is always better to call and ask...especially since you are 40 weeks. Good luck!

Did the dr do a scraping of the membranes or anything like that? I would call up your dr's office and speak to a nurse there just in case.

You might be getting ready for the birth of your Brand New Baby!!! Yay!! =) Good luck!!

It's part of your bloody show probably. Call your doctor and explain about the chunks, but I'm sure it's just fine.

Probably a good idea to just call the doctor's office to be sure.

I experienced that as well. It was alarming. Give the dr. a call, just to put your mind at ease.
