Henderson has gone from a population of less than 10 thousand to being the second biggest city in Nevada. All in a period of 25 years or so. Downtown Henerson's housing stock dates back to World War Two in many cases. New master-planned communities have sprung up since 1982 and consitute the bulk of the housing stock in Henderson. The downside is that you will be living among a lot of folks who moved there and really don't know much about Southern Nevada or the greater Las Vegas area. The UNLV football stadium (Sam Boyd Silver Bowl) is not in Henderson. It's in Whitney Township. That's one of the unincorporated urban townships that make up a great deal of the Las Vegas metro area.
I suggest you do a yellow pages search and make contact with a realtor. If you are thinking of buying a residence, there are over 18 thousand residential properties in active foreclosure right now, many of them in Henderson.

I know it is very hot there, but if you are going to be living in Vegas area, then Henderson is the place, alot cheaper and is growing...there are some really nice areas and then again there are some slum areas too..UNLV football stadium is located there...so long as you have air conditioning, you will be fine in the summer months..you can do all most anything, you just have to start in the morning hours..they say it is a DRY heat, which is true..humidity is only normally about 5-10%, except when there is a storm out of the southwest, like the one that is there today..remnence of DEAN

If you are going to live in clark country i would recommend either henderson or somerland. Make sure you don't mind the heat. Now I am not talking hey I don't mind it. I am talking about 3 and 4 months of not getting under 100 and of those a couple months of not getting under 110. They are in a major drought and it is very brown. I lived in vegas/ henderson for 2 years and hated every minute of it.
