I like to learn new things and I do like to play with tools sometimes, probably more than most girls. I know how to take my computer apart and put new parts in...and I have changed a tire on the side of the road with no help. But I notice that the average guy finds things like this easier than girls. I get angry when guys figure out how to work things or how to fix something faster than I could.

And like I said I am better than a lot of girls, I bet. Some chicks can't do ANYTHING. I have seen it, they are hopeless.

Is it just the way guys are brought up? Like, their fathers teach them things? Or is it that we as girls are made differently?

Even when I am doing something like when I had the computer apart...I was getting a little frustrated and the thought crossed my mind that "this would be a lot easier if I was a guy".

Does anyone have any ideas about this? Its a bit puzzling and upsetting b/c I like to think we are all equal and I HATE when a male can do something that I cant do.

No matter what anyone says, not everyone can always do things the same or as good as others, but... as for women been better or worst at using tools, that is not quite true.. In some cases its requires a higher degree of strength to use some tools, but other then that, anyone could or can be as good as the next person no matter guy or girl..

The thing maybe due to some just dont have a general interest like others do, that could be a state of mind or anything, but like u probably already know, not everyone is the same..

Everyone can blame it at society and what-not all they want, but is all genertics, and no matter how much we fight genetics, they will always have the upper hand. but that does not mean you can not be or do different then what nature has programed us to be like.. Anyways, that is another subject.. am sure u get what I mean..

To start off, I want to preface this by saying that of course not all guys conform to this, and not all girls either, but you're right, there is a noticeable difference.

It does have to do with upbringing, but its not necessarily the parents fault. Guys grow up with toys like train sets that they have to build, planes and rockets that they need to take apart, etc. So guys might naturally grow a knack for those sort of things. Girls grow up and their moms teach them to play dress-up and play with dolls, so they just don't acquire these skills.

Boys are also allowed to be more obnoxious, which means as a result they are sometimes more comfortable being outgoing and trying a bunch of things. Girls are scolded when they're obnoxious, because its "not lady-like", so they can become more reserved or self-conscious, and not want to try new things.

It has nothing to do with guys being more logical or anything... (in fact I think it's the opposite)... it's purely what we're used to as a result of societal conditioning.

I like to think that we're all equal too. However society is still essentially sexist from when we're born. Girls are generally taught things which are more traditionally femine and boys thing more traditionally masculine so as we go through life we find things which conform to those stereotypes easier.
Also, from a young age boys are often taught to be more outgoing and try new things and so aren't as scared to give something a go even if they know little to nothing about it whereas girls are taught to be more cautious about new things.
It really annoys me and if I ever have a daughter she would be taught to be inquisitive and self-confident enough to try as many things as possible.

Some of it is social up bringing . I love power tools . My ex. and owned a gutter and sheet metal business . He taught me how to use a drill (18v) , i helped him w/ a few jobs. I'm a better builder than my new husband. I use to watch my dad and guys work on cars too.
Fathers seen to think girls are too fragile to do what guys do.
They say "you can do anything if you try."
I want a chain saw for my next b day not a vacuum.

There are physical differences, don't you think there can also be mental differences? Men and women do have a slightly different outlook on life in general. Part of that is genetic and part of that is environmental. Yes we are equal but that does not mean that we can all do the same things the same way.

Some guys are hopeless too. If you do domething you will get better at it. This kind of prejudice seems to used to the disadvantage of women... we don't hear people saying that males don't have the necessary complex understanding of language and social complexities to be president......................
Also, feeling that one may be inferior is likely to interfere with one's performance in any field. Prejudice does harm.

It is just because of the way they are brought up using tools. They get more practice. The same way girls are usually better at cooking and dishes...they are brought up cooking etc and they get more practice.

I think it's more to do with the way guy's brain function. I am like you too, but i guess guys are smarter at logic and girls mostly think "from heart"
