My husband and I own a plumbing business. Today he was still home. I was downstairs. I heard him and asked why he was still home he said he was thinking about what material to use on a job and was also thumbing through a book to see what material he could use on a job. When I came up he was watching a movie with the book on his lap. Is that a lie cause he didnt tell me he was watching tv? My husband can't watch tv and think for some reason his whole head get sucked in. When I confront him he tells me in a sarcastic tone he will never lie to me again. (Even when I ask how I look) He said when I had asked how my hair looked after going to the hair dressers "that it looks like a helmet". He also said" when you colored your hair both times it looked like ****." How do you like that truth. When I said it makes me wonder what else he is lieing about he called me a crazy women. Now I am wondering if I am over reacting. What do you think? By the way my sixteen year old was standing there.

Well, I think there are variations of lying.....some are innocent and nothing to worry about while others are destructive. A normal, common sense person can tell the difference. The fact is - he WAS looking for materials in the book but he happened to be watching t.v. at the same time. What's the big deal? Are you his police officer or his wife? He reacted the way he did because you acted like he was 5 years old and had to report his every move to you. He was wrong to react so meanly but he certainly made his point......

His point was - do I have to tell you 100% of the truth all the time even when it's silly to do so? People tell little lies all the time.....like when a husband tells his wife her hair looks great even if he doesn't think so. That's a lie but he lied because he didn't want to hurt your feelings. So, he decided to tell you truth on even that if you were going to call him out on such a stupid little thing.

You definitely overreacted and acted more like a police officer instead of his wife. If the man wants to watch t.v. then let him. Geez - you act like he's 2 and needs your permission!

I think you embarressed him. What's the big deal f he took a mental health day? Doesn't everybody play hooky on occasion? Not saying it's right, but isn't one of the benefits of having your own business so you can set your hours?
You also say WE own a business, but you were home also.

I dont think that would consist of a real lie, he told you what he was doing, just not all of what it was.

I would start to worry about it if it becomes something with more important issues.

hes just being a guy

OMG...are you his mother or wife? You are a royal pain in the neck, leave your husband alone. Be sweet and loving and kind towards him, not his hall monitor.
