I think he's already better than M.J., at least individual skill-wise. I think he's currently the fourth best player of all-time, and will likely end up second or third behind Wilt.

No doubt he has the talent matches up pretty good with Jordan in all areas except the intangibles (and I do not doubt his will or effort) so yes the potential is there. Just the same as a Lakers fan I would not mind seeing him traded for a mix of a veteran, a young player and a draft pick or two. Even if they have had equal careers at 29 I do not see Kobe wising up in time to win as many championships and with two guys so evenly matched skill and ability wise it may come down to championships. All in all I think Kobe has almost no chance of eclipsing MJ maybe not even West, the Big O or Larry Bird as the other great wings along with Jordan in the history of the NBA. Like I said though he has the potential.

Jordan is the standard for which all others are judged. I am a Lakers fan and a Kobe fan but I am not yet ready to put Kobe in the class of Jordan. Kobe might actually be a better pure shooter than Jordan and when his career is over his numbers might be there as well, but he does not have the leadership qualities of Jordan and is not always willing to get his fellow players involved in the game. To me Kobe comes up short when compared to Jordan but to answer your question precisely I would have to say the potential is there to be the greatest of all time, but I just don't think he will reach his potential.

Yeah, I think he does. Skillwise, he has it all. But Kobe is a little lacking in leadership. He took his first leap of faith in the Suns series in 2006, and his skills as a team leader blossomed in the first half of last season. But then came the injuries, and he was forced to hog the ball again. If everyone stays healthy, and Kobe continues to be the facilitator from time to time, and takes over games when needed, the Lakers can probably win 55 games, and that'll spell an MVP for Kobe. As for a CHAMPIONSHIP, I don't know. Unless they do anything drastic, I don't see Kobe winning another one. But I'm pretty sure Kobe will win 1 more before he retires, maybe 2, and that'll be it. Even if he does, he may be statistically equivalent to MJ, but he will always be too controversial in the public eye to be regarded as the greatest of all time.

No. How can you have potential to be the greatest player of all time if your team shows no potential? Kobe may of looked great in his early career with those amazing Lakers teams, but hasn't done much since. I don't think Kobe has enough time to: win 3 more championships, 6 MVP's, 6 finals MVP's. Those are just some major stats he has to fulfill just to tie Jordan.
To compare the two at 29 years old is not fair at all. Kobe didn't go to college. Michael went to three years. Kobe played for an amazing Lakers team. Michael had to build his dynasty.
I doubt when Kobe is done that we'll consider him the greatest of all time.

He could be the greatest of all time but he needs to win more rings and be a better leader, he has made history a couple of times so yes he has the potential, so all Kobe haters don't hate and give the guy some credit he is human you know so don't expect him to be perfect. He has talent and all you know it and that is why you don't like him, if you were as talented has he is you would think you were the **** too. So don't hate and apriciate.

Definitely. I imply Lebron is in his top correct now and it's debatable that Kobe, who's commencing to gradual down slightly, persons nonetheless evaluate them. People will have to evaluate Lebron now and Kobe in his top. It's now not near. Kobe used to be greater talent clever, intellectual clever, shielding clever and proficiency clever. Kobe can create a shot for himself wherever at the court docket and all Lebron does is over vigour persons to attain. Lebron both drives to the basket or shoots external. That's it. I imply I suppose Kevin Durant is extra skillful and proficient than Lebron. Lebron is athletic. I'll supply him that however come on. Kobe used to be athletic too. Lebron is commencing to get injured plenty in recent years and it is just his like eighth yr within the NBA. Kobe, in his eighth yr, used to be capturing 12 threes in a sport. Kobe has a well 2 years left in him mostly. Now, that Kobe is commencing to appear well and healthful once more, evaluating him to Lebron is unrealistic. Putting Lebron within the equal sentence as Kobe is not even useful. Kobe is five for 7 within the NBA Finals and Lebron is ...? Kobe is essentially the most intriguing participant to look at within the NBA. You in no way recognize what you are gonna get. KEVIN DURANT > LEBRON JAMES KOBE BRYANT > LEBRON JAMES/KEVIN DURANT

Not even close. He is definitely special, but MJ was on another level even from Kobe. Kobe would need to be at this level like 5 years ago for him to be equal to MJ.

I wouldnt put him in my top 5 as it is now. And probably not when he retires either. All the greats played unselfishly. I think Kobe is about padding his stats. My top 5 in order are Jordan, Abdul Jabaar, Magic Johnson, Bill Russell, and Larry Bird
